CFES Spring Meeting 2022
Spring Meeting is a 2-3 day yearly transition meeting for the CFES where new Officers are welcomed into their roles and work with Engineers Canada to develop a yearly plan. The CFES is a critical organization to the wellbeing of engineering students across the country and works directly with UBC’s Engineering Undergraduate Society to provide resources, build connections, and provide UBC students with the opportunity to attend 3 national conferences each year. Focusing on engineering leadership, diversity, and sustainability, the CFES provides the opportunity to many UBC students to engage in important learning opportunities while networking with engineering students from across Canada – it is at the forefront of developing a Canada-wide community for engineering students focused on learning and collaboration.

Snowbots Mars Rover
UBC Snowbots are taking their robotic expertise to Mars!
We are preparing for CIRC in Drumheller and will be building a semi-autonomous rover with a robotic arm, soil sampling capabilities and more!
Alea Satellite
ALEASAT is a joint initiative between UBC Orbit and SFU SAT, with over 100 members actively involved. Together, we are developing an Earth Observation (EO) CubeSat that allows radio amateurs engaged in disaster relief to request and downlink imagery directly.
MINT
MINT focuses on the development of an EEG every year, as well as the application of said EEG in the field of neurotechnology. Every year, we work on the aforementioned EEG, and work towards the NeuroTechX annual competition through the development of any neurotechnology related device.
Orcasat
ORCASat will be used to calibrate ground-based star photometers and observatories for atmospheric and instrumental attenuation. Additionally, its radio source will be used to calibrate the CHIME radio observatory. ORCASat also provides a store and forward repeater to amateur radio operators, and a slow scan TV beacon for STEM outreach.
Alea Satellite
ALEASAT is a joint initiative between Simon Fraser University (SFU SAT) and the
University of British Columbia (UBC Orbit). Together, we are developing an Earth
Observation (EO) CubeSat that allows radio amateurs engaged in disaster relief to request
and downlink imagery directly. The project involves over 100 members of design teams
SFU SAT and UBC Orbit, with support from the Director of the UBC Radio Science Lab,
Prof. David Michelson and the Director of the SFU Aerospace Physiology Lab, Dr. Andrew
Blaber.
