How the program has supported you

The program has helped provide funding for us to buy materials and resources to help us build prototypes of our core activation device. Because of this, we were able to go through numerous rounds of design and prototypes to build an initial version of the device. Because this team was formed this year, we do not have any existing funding or sponsors. Therefore, PAF funding was crucial to the beginning of this team and project. Thanks to the PAF program, we were also able to reach out to UBC Kinesiology to promote this team and project and generate interest amongst their students. This promotes better inter-faculty collaboration.

Outcomes

As mentioned above, we were able to go through rounds of research and prototyping to come up with our initial version of the device. We have been able to build the device that will be meant to be worn around the user’s core and deliver reminders for posture adjuster through the sensors inside. During this upcoming year, we plan on furthering the posture adjustment reminder to make it more precise and accurate in stimulating the muscles that need to further contracted in order to adjust the posture. We are also looking at the applications of this device to other parts of the body.
