How the program has supported you
The program has supported me by developing my understanding of engineering education efforts in Canada and the US. Through the conference, I formed connections with hardworking educators in the engineering field as well as other students who performed research or extracurriculars which benefited their fellow engineering students. The conference also allowed me space to present my research on community engaged learning in engineering education and answer the audience’s questions. PAF funding allowed me the opportunity to attend the ASEE Zone IV conference by funding my registration.
Outcomes
Through the conference, I gained important presentation skills; since the pandemic began, most presentations at co-op as well as during courses have been online, so presenting my research in-person was refreshing and required a slightly different skillset than online presentations which was beneficial to learn for future professional opportunities. I also made connections with educators within the engineering field who I believe are valuable to my professional network. I also learned about the current research in the engineering education field which is beneficial for possible future research.
